6 Things you should NOT DIY for your Wedding

I understand everyone wants to save money on their wedding, and DIY projects are a great way to do that. However, we can all agree that there are certain things you should leave to the professionals. Let’s get started with some wedding DIY don’ts.

Your Photos. I cannot stress this enough. Far too many couples have hired a friend to take some casual photos at their wedding to save costs, only to be disappointed later on. Some may think that quality photos won’t matter to them. Still, they make a big difference, especially considering that your photographer takes hundreds of photos to select a handful of beautiful shots that are then processed. Everyone wants to look back at flattering photos of themselves on their big day & 90% of the time a friend taking your photos doesn't exactly fit the bill for that vision.

Your cake. Ok, I know it may sound easy enough to buy a few boxes of cake, mix and whip something up at home, but if it’s not a cake that you would be proud to present to family and friends and have in your photos, it’s best to leave the baking to the professionals. Plus, this would be one extra thing that you would need to do right before your wedding when you should be relaxing. To cut costs couple of mine have done different dessert options besides cake to save $$$ such as cup cakes etc.

Your hair and makeup. Unless you have an in-depth knowledge of makeup and hair and could be mistaken for a pro, I recommend that you hire a professional to assist you. Wedding makeup artists and hairstylists know how to make your hair and makeup last the entire day, which is something you definitely want. Plus, this is your wedding day, and you should have the full experience.

Your catering. Catering for a wedding is extremely stressful and time-consuming than you can imagine. THIS could end up causing you more stress than saving money is worth. Professional caterers exist for a reason. They know exactly what goes into preparing food for a large group of people, how to store and transport the food safely to your event. Plus, you want your guests to enjoy the best food possible. Don't even get me started on the catering staff and how necessary they are as well!!

Your flowers. Unless you are a professional florist or have some form of a background, please hire a florist for your wedding day. A florist will help create a story that fits you and your fiance’s lifestyle and best captures your personalities. You can cut costs on this without DIY by having smaller centerpieces, etc

Your music. It may sound simple enough to put all of your music on an iPod and play it through a hired speaker. Still, there’s something useful about having a professional DJ or musician assist you with your music for the day, especially when it comes to your first dance and making announcements throughout your party to be sure everything flows smoothly
